Well tonight is the night, our two festival plays are going on stage for the delight of the village audience. Judging by last night’s dress rehearsal it will be an entertaining evening. I know, I know, rehearsing on a bank holiday, such dedication, such commitment, such a lack of a social life; it’s all there in the Kingston Bagpuize Drama Group.
This is my final reminder I promise about the ODN festival, 4th June until Saturday, 9th June at the Unicorn Theatre, Abingdon. Curtain up at 7.30pm every night. Tickets, £4 each. The adjudicator is Helen Sharman. One of our plays is on Tuesday night, that’s Mediocrity by Anton Robert Krueger and on Wednesday it’s our other play, Canary Cage by Diana Raffle.
After next week it will be back to finding something for our November production and so it goes on.
Last week an interesting website was pointed out to me: http://www.newburytheatre.co.uk/groups/kb.htm. Here can be found details of all the amateur drama groups in area with links to their own web sites, maps where they are based etc., etc., really informative for those good people in the community interested in amateur dramatics, God bless ‘em.
Well I’m orf to get ready for my big chance at stardom tonight, as I play the part of the ‘Brute’ I have to get psyched up and into the part of the loutish boor, a far cry from the gentleman and scholar I am in real life…this will come as a surprise to both my readers.
Full report of tonight’s activities in my next blog. Keep watching this space.
