Well we have decided on one of our entries for the ODN festival this summer. Mediocrity by Anton Robert Krueger is a one-act play with six characters.
This comedy, with its exaggerated, absurd characters, borrows elements from commedia Del' arte and the burlesque traditions to send up doctors, wives, brutality and death. Kenaf has just learnt that he's about to die and his life changes dramatically as he finally stands up to his domineering Wife, the bullying Brute and the condescending Doctor.
Winner of the AMFEST Festival at the Wits Theatre, "Mediocrity" represented South Africa at the Mondial du Theatre in Monaco in July 2002. Thought you would like to know that and now it’s representing the Kingston Bagpuize Drama Group at the Unicorn Theatre in Abingdon in June. Great stuff, there is a little bit of everything in Mediocrity, well worth seeing albeit such a short play.
How our rehearsals going for The Collector- I hear you cry. Very well is the short answer. We had a report from Director Robert Miles at out committee meeting last Thursday evening and he’s very pleased with how it’s going. All we need now is to sell the seats. Full details on where to buy these in next week’s blog.
Of course it is always more of a problem to sell tickets for plays with small casts.
Friends, relatives, spouses, etc., will always flock to support their friends and relations when they are on stage. Small cast plays such as this will need more effort so we are all busy preparing leaflets, advertisements and such to announce to the world we are putting on The Collector in April. Don’t forget I shall asking questions next week.
