SOMETIMES 0-0 draws aren't a fair reflection on what happened on the pitch – Saturday's game against the Marmite munchers was just that – a bore draw.
The only plus point is that United kept a clean sheet and didn't concede a stupid goal at the end.
Burton came for a draw and that's exactly what they got – they didn't bother trying to entertain the crowd, although the U's weren't much better.
The swirling wind didn't help and I'm sure the wind tunnel effect is the reason why we haven't got as many points as we should have this season. A fourth stand is a neccessity.
The only amusing aspect of Saturday's game was the chant that went up when the female assistant wrongly awarded Burton a corner in the first half: "Stayed in the kitchen - you should have stayed in the kitchen."
What I didn't like hearing were the boos at half time – Burton are a decent side who we could face in the play-offs, if we get there – and it doesn't help the players.
Talking of abuse, I thought the villification of Steve McClaren was a bit over the top from the newspapers.
However, he's got to do something about his island-style hair, particularly as he now has the money to go to a decent hairdresser. I think it reflects the way England are playing at the moment. Fairly solid at the back, a bit of a mess in the middle and thin at the front.
Still on the subject of bosses, when is Steve "Suicidal Sid" Coppell going to cheer up? He's such a negative ******.
I still can't believe he said Reading were never going to win the FA Cup. Well they would have had a better chance had they not fielded a reserve side against Manchester United.
I've worked out the secret of their success though. He just threatens to talk to them for a couple of minutes if they don't win.
Anyway, onto next Monday's match with Weymouth. I wish that Cambridge hadn't given them a thrashing last weekend. It will be interesting to see their reaction. I just hope Stuart Beavon doesn't score.
