CONTRARY to what it says on the front of today's Oxford Mail, United are NOT certain for the play-offs – there are still six games coming up, starting with Saturday's visit of Burton Albion.
They are a good side and United did very well to bag a win at their Ikea flat-pack ground.
And we've still got Weymouth and York to play as well. Oxford can still be caught , so it's vital they don't take their foot off the gas and remain POSITIVE.
Last night's cracker against Dagenham was the best game I can remember up at the Kassam (apart from beating S***don of course). It showed the fans watching on Sky that Oxford are capable of playing decent football.
United seemed to come out of the negative shell that has been their downfall in many of the home games this season. They haven't been positive enough, especially against the rubbish teams.
I thought Dagenham showed why they are so far ahead at the top of the league in the first half.
But United allowed the jellied eel-eating musselmen (spelled like that deliberately - honest) to bully us out of possession.
Once the U's started to get stuck in after the break I thought Dagenham looked a bit rattled, particularly when Yemi Odubade started getting behind them on the right wing.
The second goal should be shown every day - the way Yemi anticipated the hashed clearance by Tony Roberts was brilliant followed by that quality finish.
That'll teach him to take the p*** out of the fans!
Jim Smith's decision to bring on Chris Hargreaves on for the talented, but tiring Danny Rose, seemed to galvanise the U's into action. Bringing on 'Marvellous' Marvin (who I thought held the ball up well) and Rob Duffy was also a good move. But we couldn't get that third goal.
It was a real shame they couldn't hold on.
I'm sure we would have done it had we had a decent defender in there.
I think that had Corcoran or Chris Willmott (Oxford have missed him big-time) been playing we would have held on.
Barry Quinn always gives his all, but he's not a centre half and has this habit of dawdling.
Instead of hammering the ball away he made the cardinal sin of waiting for it to bounce to try to get a touch. You didn't see any of the crafty cockneys defence dwelling on the ball.
Yesterday was a great example of how not to defend. Here's some advice the next time it happens – never mind trying to bring it down and control it – JUST CLEAR THE B******!!!!!
