So after last weeks debacle against Wallingford, the boys pulled out the stops to blow away Stow 27-5.................I think...............because you see, I wasn't there!

I am still carrying the hamstring tear that kept me out of last weeks game, and so decided on a trip to London for the weekend to see my family and a few old friends! By all accounts it was a good win, and a convincing performance from the boys against a side that put 50 points on us at the start of the season!

I am hoping this week to be able to start some light training for the first time in two weeks, and have to say a big thank you to the physio staff at the club (Adam and Emma), who have helped me recover much quicker than expected, and I hope to be playing in two weeks.

Its often over looked the work that physios and support staff do at a sports club, but due to the physical nature of the game of rugby, they have become an integral part of the team in modern times. Gone our the days when the magic sponge would do, now it is much more professional, within minutes of injuring my hamstring, I was receiving ultrasound and massages to limit the damage done, and then they made a specific rehabilitation program, to ensure I got back match fitness as quickly as possible. Our physio Adam also plays an important part in our match day preparations, taking the team in our warm up, and ensuring we are fully warmed up and in the best possible condition for when the whistle goes! He even has a few drills for us at half time to keep us on our toes!

It is probably the most frustrating thing in the world being injured, and I still hate it, but at least knowing that I am getting the best possible treatment and that I will be back as soon as possible, makes the time on the sidelines more bearable.

Next week sees our re-arranged game against Swindon College, and while I wont be able to play in that game, at least I can be on the sidelines.......and hopefully provide a better match report!
