A driver has had their vehicle seized after police discovered they were behind the wheel in the Cotswolds despite having a revoked licence.

Officers from Chipping Norton Neighbourhood Policing stopped the vehicle on Monday evening (November 3) while carrying out proactive patrols in the area.

Police said checks revealed the driver was using a revoked driving licence and was therefore no longer legally entitled to drive.

The motorist was reported for driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence before officers seized the vehicle.

The patrols were being carried out after residents raised concerns about vehicle nuisance and the inappropriate use of vehicles in a recent anti-social behaviour survey.

Thames Valley Police West Oxfordshire said officers had responded by carrying out targeted patrols aimed at tackling the problems and improving road safety.

The force said: “This is a great example of how your feedback directly influences our policing activity.

“We remain committed to listening to local concerns and taking positive action to keep our roads safe.

“Thank you to everyone who continues to engage with us and report issues in their area. Your information helps us focus on the matters that affect our communities most.”

Police are urging residents to continue reporting concerns about vehicle nuisance, dangerous driving, traffic offences and anti-social behaviour.

Incidents can be reported through the Thames Valley Police website or by calling 101.
