A costly £44,000 clear-up and demolition is planned at Bicester's Garth Park.

Bicester Town Council has agreed to spend £16,686 on removing a stockpile of soil and general waste, alongside £27,698 for asbestos removal ahead of the demolition of garages in Garth Park.

The garages were purchased by the council in 2024 as part of plans for a new council office development.

However, the proposal did not progress, and the buildings have since fallen into poor condition, prompting calls for their removal.

Councillors questioned why a single contractor was not being used but were told different waste streams required specialist handling

Officers said one contractor had offered to complete the whole job but at a substantially higher price.
