Bicester Town Council has approved a change to this year's Remembrance Parade that will see wreath-laying return to the churchyard memorial.

The move reverses a 2023 decision that saw wreath-laying transferred to the town centre.

Councillors agreed that speeches, the bugler and the two-minute silence will remain in Market Square before wreath-layers move to the memorial.

Mayor Paul Wheatley said there was insufficient time to redesign the entire ceremony before this year's event on Sunday, November 8.

However, several councillors raised concerns over safety, accessibility and lengthy queues, recalling previous services where around 100 participants waiting outside the church became unwell.

Councillors also called for the revised arrangements to be reviewed by the Events Committee before the parade and said plans for future ceremonies should be considered for 2027.
