A driver in Watlington was stopped and searched by the police with 'drugs found' by officers, and the vehicle was seized.

Thames Valley Police officers from the Rural Crime Taskforce pulled over a Mercedes in Watlington, South Oxfordshire, late on Tuesday, October 20.

The car and its occupants were searched under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act, the police said, which means officers can stop and search anyone the reasonably believe is in possession of illegal drugs.

In this case, the police reported that cannabis was found.

The vehicle was also untaxed and appeared to be uninsured when the officers ran further checks, and was seized by the force.

Following the successful stop search, the Rural Crime Taskforce continued to attend 'several reports of suspicious vehicles' in the fields around South Oxfordshire.
