An Oxfordshire county councillor is campaigning against a road safety scheme designed to make life safer for parents and school pupils.
School Streets scheme have been introduced near a number of schools in the county, bringing in temporary restrictions for vehicles at school drop-off and pick-up times.
ANPR (automatic number plate recognition) cameras enforce the restrictions, although cameras for a School Streets scheme for St Birinus School in Didcot and Willowcroft Community Primary School, both in Mereland Road have not yet been switched on.

Now Conservative county councillor Liam Walker has objected to the introduction of a School Streets scheme in Carterton, for Edith Moorhouse Primary School and St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School.
Mr Walker, who represents the Hanborough & Hailey division, posted on Facebook: "In Carterton with colleagues to speak with parents impacted by the School Streets scheme that’s been implemented by Oxfordshire County Council.
"No one supported this but the council has gone ahead and imposed this draconian measure on local residents and parents."
Mr Walker has backed a petition calling for the petition to be scrapped.
It says: "The Lib Dem School Street trial in Carterton has started in September, despite many local residents continuing to raise serious concerns about the impact it will have on those living nearby.
"The scheme will use ANPR cameras to restrict access to several residential roads during school drop-off and pick-up times.
"While everyone wants children to get to school safely, that should only happen with genuine community support and practical solutions that work for residents too."
The petition added: "That's why your local Conservative team is continuing to campaign against this scheme. We believe the county council should listen to residents, think again, and work with the community and schools on measures that improve safety without unfairly impacting those who live in the area.
"If you agree, please support our campaign along with giving us your feedback and help us send a clear message to the Lib Dem administration: listen to Carterton residents before it's too late."
