Emergency services were called to an Oxford bridge on Thursday night.
Witnesses saw police and the fire and ambulance services in the area of Folly Bridge, Abingdon Road shortly before midnight on August 27.
It's understood a person had fallen into the water, but was rescued and taken into care.
Thames Valley Police said officers were called to assist Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, but declined to provide further information.

Oxfordshire County Council claimed the fire service was "not been called to any incident at Folly Bridge" despite the police saying otherwise.
In a previous incident in March, Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service rescued an adult from a narrowboat collided with Folly Bridge, getting stuck on a bridge stanchion and causing major traffic delays.
