Knife incident in town as man charged with possessing weapon

A knife incident in Banbury town centre has resulted in a man being charged with possessing a weapon, police said.

Thames Valley Police confirmed on Tuesday, August 11, that a man has been charged with possession of a bladed article following an incident at the town.

A fixed-blade knife was recovered during 'an incident in the town centre', police said, though the force did not release further details on when this occurred or the man's name.

Officers from the Banbury neighbourhood policing team said they worked with security staff at Castle Quay shopping centre to establish further information.

A spokesperson for the police said: "This result highlights the excellent partnership between local neighbourhood officers and security staff, working together through information sharing and direct radio communication to keep the public safe.

"We will not tolerate knife carrying in Banbury."

Thames Valley Police has been approached for further information on the identity of the man charged with the crime and the time and location of the incident.
