A Spice Girl has revealed that Geri Halliwell was "disgusted" after a previous clash with Lady Victoria Beckham.

The girl group were one of the biggest bands in the world after forming in 1994, but went their separate ways in 2000, entering a hiatus to concentrate on their solo careers.

Two of the Spice Girls live in Oxfordshire, with Lady Beckham based near Chipping Norton in the Cotswolds, while Ms Halliwell lives near Banbury.

Now, Melanie Chisholm, better known as Mel C, has opened up on The Louis Theroux Podcast.

This was about a furious bust‑up with Lady Beckham at the 1996 BRIT Awards, which she says nearly cost her a place in the band.

The 52‑year‑old recalled the group enjoying an “amazing night” at the ceremony, drinking champagne at a table alongside Lenny Kravitz before heading out to find their car.

“We were just leaving; we were going to find our car, and whatever the situation was, I just turned around and [went], ‘Victoria, f**k off,’” she told the podcast.

“I go home, go to bed, I wake up the next morning, and I’m in a lot of trouble.”

The singer said she was warned she could be removed from the Spice Girls if anything like that happened again, a threat which left her shaken.

“I went into terror because I thought I was gonna lose everything,” she admitted.

“Those dreams as a child, which now were a possibility, I might have f**ked it all up. And I thought it was very trivial as well.”

Ms Chisholm told the podcast that Scary Spice Mel B and Ginger Spice Ms Halliwell were “disgusted” by her behaviour, while the group’s manager also came down on her.

Despite the fall‑out, the Spice Girls went on to be hailed as the best‑selling female group of all time, selling more than 85 million records worldwide and reuniting for a string of comeback shows, including a final night at Wembley Stadium in 2019.
