A trial date has been set after an Oxford man denied attacking his wife.

Assam Karrar, of Sandford Road, Littlemore, appeared in court via a video link from hospital on June 25.

The 60-year-old is charged with one count of inflicting grievous bodily harm, without intent, in Oxford on November 9 2024.

The court heard that Karrar had previously been given a hospital order in 2008. Medical reports were ordered to determine his state of mind during the alleged offence.

The court also heard that there would be no decision on his future until the case is resolved.

A further case management hearing was listed for October 2.

A trial date, with a time estimate of two to three days, was listed for November 30 this year.

Judge Maria Lamb explained to the defendant what had taken place during the hearing.
