Witney's mayor has been out and about celebrating community life.
Councillor Jane Doughty, who took office in May, has attended a series of events and met with organisations across the town.
One of her early engagements was a visit to The Mulberry Bush, where she met their Morph sculpture and learned about the group’s recent growth.
She has also supported new businesses and attended community events, including Witney Pride, which she visited alongside deputy mayor councillor Sandra Simpson.
Councillor Doughty is a finance officer at the University of Oxford and brings nearly 20 years of experience in public service.
She has lived in Witney for more than 35 years and works with residents of all ages.
Her chosen charities for the year reflect her focus on community support: the Witney Day Centre and Oasis.
Oasis, the Oxfordshire Autistic Society for Information and Support, assists families raising children and young people with autism, offering playdays and community support.
The Witney Day Centre is a volunteer-led service that provides activities, meals, and companionship for older residents.
"Together, these charities reflect the strong sense of community support and practical care that exists across Witney and Oxfordshire."
She was elected as Witney’s mayor following a vote by councillors at the town council’s annual meeting.
