Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service has issued a statement after an emergency incident as a road near Faringdon temporarily closed for much of the day.
Goosey Lane between the A417 Faringdon Road and the village of Goosey, in southwest Oxfordshire, was closed to all traffic since about 8.30am to about 2.40pm today, Thursday, June 18.
The fire and rescue service issued an alert at 9.20am warning people that the road 'could be closed for a number of hours'.

It has now been confirmed that firefighters were on the scene to deal with a tree that had caught fire, which was successfully extinguished, but required an ongoing closure for further safety measures.
A spokesperson for Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue said: "A fire engine from Wantage Fire Station was called this morning, around 8:30am, following a report of a tree on fire near Goosey.
"The crew extinguished the fire, then remained at the scene because of concerns about the structural stability of the tree and the risk of it falling.

"An assessment by a tree surgeon confirmed the tree needs to be felled, and a road closure is currently in place until necessary work has been carried out.
Traffic coped well with the closure and the village of Goosey remained accessible from the A417 through diversions via Park Lane or the village of Denchworth.
Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue announced on its social media channel that Goosey Lane was reopened to all traffic at approximately 2.40pm, and thanked drivers for their patience.
