Oxford is set to bask in Mediterranean-style heat over the coming days, with forecasters predicting temperatures to outstrip those in Barcelona next week.
According to Google Weather, the warm spell will build steadily from Friday, June 19, when Oxford is expected to see a high of around 27 C with a low of 16C and sunny spells breaking through the cloud.
On Saturday, June 20, conditions are forecast to stay settled but slightly cooler, with temperatures in the city hovering at about 24 C by day and 16C overnight.

By Sunday, June 21, the mercury is set to climb again, with Oxford likely to reach around 29 C in the afternoon, before dropping back to a still‑mild 17 C in the evening.
The hottest weather is currently expected at the start of next week, when Monday, June 22, is predicted to bring highs of 31C and lows of 18C, followed by an even hotter Tuesday, June 23, when temperatures could peak at 32C, again with an overnight minimum of 18C.
Although readings in Barcelona are also set to be warm, Google’s forecast shows the Catalan city staying a notch cooler than Oxford at the start of the week, with highs of about 29C on both Sunday and Tuesday.

On Wednesday, June 24, Oxfordshire’s hot spell is due to continue, with Google Weather indicating another day of roughly 31C in the afternoon and 18C at night.
By Thursday, June 25, temperatures are forecast to remain very warm, with Oxford again expected to see around 31C by day and 17C after dark.
With several days of 30C‑plus heat on the cards and highs nudging above those in Barcelona, residents are advised to take usual hot‑weather precautions.
This includes staying hydrated, seeking shade during the peak afternoon hours and looking out for vulnerable neighbours.
