Arrest for 'immigration offences' near Oxfordshire town

There has been an arrest for 'immigration offences' near to an Oxfordshire town.

Thames Valley Police has said that a person found near Thame was taken into custody on Wednesday, June 10 on suspicion of breaching immigration law.

This followed a proactive spot check and the rural crime unit added that they will continue to target criminals operating within the countryside.

A spokesperson said: "Our officers are on patrol across the Thames Valley.

"PC Dollery and PC Woolley have arrested one person for immigration offences following a proactive stop check near Thame.

"We focus our patrols to target those that commit crime in our rural communities."

On the same night the unit also arrested a woman on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker.
