The search for Oxford Climate Awards winners for 2026 is now well under way following a launch event at the town hall.
Civic leaders and leaders of environmental groups gathered at the St Aldate's venue for the launch of the awards, now in their third year.
A number of presentations were made by awards organisers, and nominations are now being sought in many different categories.

Following the event on Thursday, regional editor Andrew Colley said: "We are delighted to launch the 2026 Oxford Climate Awards – it is the third time, and with support across the community, we hope it will be the biggest and best yet.
“It was an honour to kickstart the nomination period with our sponsors and colleagues who have helped make the event possible.
“The energy and desire in the room to back this cause and tackle the climate crisis was inspiring.
“We cannot wait to see all the nominations come through and feature some of the incredible case studies from people across Oxfordshire.”
Sister newspapers Oxford Mail and The Oxford Times joined forces to launch the third Oxford Climate Awards, with the winners to be announced at the town hall on Thursday, October 15.
Deputy Lord Mayor of Oxford Louise Upton welcomed the call for nominations.

Climate awards organisers want to hear from you about individuals, teams, businesses, community groups or institutions deserving credit for going the extra mile in a mission to create a greener future for all.
This year, there are two new awards – the Retrofit Champion Award and Sustainable School of the Year (combining last year’s Primary and Secondary of the Year categories).
Commercial director Darran Reynolds said earlier: “I’m delighted we are embarking on our third Oxford Climate Awards.
“These awards would not be possible without the support of fantastic local businesses.
“We are delighted to be joined by so many great partners, with Oxford City Council our headline partner.
“We also have a many old friends in their third year as well as new partners, including a previous winner.”

• Youth Climate Action Champion.
The awards will culminate in a prestigious black-tie event on October 15, at the town hall.
This elegant evening will honour the outstanding achievements of nominees and reveal the winners across various categories, celebrating their exceptional contributions to sustainability and climate action.
