Drugs seized as Oxford rider 'channels Hot Fuzz' in escape

Drugs were seized as an Oxford rider 'channelled Hot Fuzz' in a police chase.

Thames Valley Police has said that yesterday (Friday, May 29) a unit went to stop a moped in Headington.

When then did, the driver ran away by hopping over garden fences in scenes reminiscent of 'The Three Cornettos Trilogy' starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.

In each film - Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World's End - one of the characters is seen jumping over garden fences with varying degrees of success.

In terms of this police incident, the driver got away but his moped was searched and seized after drugs and cash were found stored within it.

In addition, it had cloned plates which happens when the registration number of a legitimate vehicle is illegally copied and displayed on another car.

A spokesperson for the rural crime unit said: "PC Parnell & S/Sgt McManus went to stop this moped in Headington to ask the driver about their insurance.

"The rider decided to hop over garden fences to get away. The moped was searched, with cash and a large quantity of cannabis located.

"It was also found to be cloned plates. It has been seized, enquiries are ongoing."
