Gucci is to compete in F1 next year as it becomes the title partner of an Oxfordshire-based team.

Alpine F1 employs approximately 850 people at their UK-based headquarters and chassis facility in Enstone near Chipping Norton.

The luxury fashion house has teamed up with Alpine to race under the name Gucci Racing from next season in March 2027.

The new era for the team will also see their two cars in in Gucci colours, marking a step away from their current blue and pink livery.

Flavio Briatore, Alpine’s executive advisor, said he is "incredibly proud" to have Gucci as the team's title partner.

Alpine has been through many iterations as a team through the years, including as Renault, Lotus and Benetton, the latter of which was at one point based in Witney.

Mr Briatore added: "The Enstone team has a history of doing things differently to others and has previously shown that fashion can finish first in Formula 1.

“With the improved performance on track, and Alpine having its best-ever points total to start a season, this new collaboration with Gucci shows the growing momentum behind the team."

Francesca Bellettini, president and chief executive of Gucci, added: “That reflects our ambition for the brand and the role we want Gucci to play on this stage. Formula 1 represents today a unique convergence of performance, culture, and global reach and Alpine Formula One Team is the right partner to bring this vision to life.

“Gucci Racing is more than a presence on the grid. It is an expression of who we are and where we want to take the brand. And there is much more to come."
