A teenage Oxford United player has died after collapsing during an academy football match this weekend, the club has confirmed.
It was reported on Saturday (March 7) that a "serious medical incident" had occurred at the club's training centre, Oxford Sports Park.
This was during a girls' academy game at the venue, which saw United take on Fulham.
The Championship club released a short statement across their website and social media channels in the evening.

Now, the club has confirmed that Amelia Aplin, a 15-year-old academy player, died following the incident.
In a statement published this afternoon (Sunday, March 8), United said that the young player had collapsed during the game.
A spokesperson for the club said: "It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of 15-year-old Academy player, Amelia Aplin.
"Amelia collapsed during a Girls’ Academy game against Fulham at the Club’s Training Centre in Horspath yesterday afternoon.
"The thoughts and sincere condolences from everyone at Oxford United are with Amelia’s family, friends, teammates and coaches.

"We would like to place on record our appreciation for the efforts of the medical staff at both Oxford United and Fulham Football Club, along with the emergency services.
"The Club will offer support to Amelia’s family, players, coaches and staff impacted by this tragic event.
"We would ask that the family’s privacy be respected at this incredibly difficult time."
Thames Valley Police attended the scene and confirmed Amelia had been taken to the hospital but passed away later on in the evening.
A spokesperson for the force said: "In the afternoon of Saturday, March 7, Thames Valley Police were notified by South Central Ambulance Service of a medical incident occurring at Oxford United Sports Park.
"Immediate emergency treatment was provided to a teenage girl.
"She was transported to the hospital but was sadly pronounced deceased later that evening.
"There are no suspicious circumstances, and this is now a matter for the coroner.
"Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this most difficult time".
Oxford United Women had been scheduled to play Real Bedford on Sunday (March 8), but the game was postponed following the serious incident.
News of this postponement was shared via a short statement on United's website as well as across the club's social media platforms.
A spokesperson for the Yellows said: "The Club can confirm that today’s game between Oxford United Women and Real Bedford has been postponed.
"Further updates will be shared in due course."
