An emergency closure at a primary school in Abingdon has been announced due to an issue on the site with all pupils told to stay home today.

Dry Sandford Primary School in Lashford Lane, near Abingdon, has unexpectedly closed today (Monday, January 19) after an issue with the heating was identified.

All pupils have been told not to come in today, and an alert about the reported closure has been posted on Oxfordshire County Council's website.

The school said it could not open due to a 'heating failure', and the issue is expected to be resolved tomorrow, Tuesday, January 19. However, this is subject to change.

Dry Sanford Primary School accepts children from the age of 4 to 11 in the village of Dry Sanford, about three miles north-west of Abingdon.

It has just under 100 primary-aged pupils in the school and was rated 'good' at its last Ofsted inspection.
