Good-quality, professionally fitted burglar alarms are recommended, as well as visible CCTV cameras or a video doorbell camera covering entrances and driveways.
Police recommend sensor or timer-controlled lighting, ensuring all doors and windows are locked, and securing cash, jewellery and electronics out of sight.
The force also encouraged "neighbourhood awareness", asking people to get to know their neighbours and report any suspicious activity or unknown vehicles to police.
