Didcot and Wantage MP Olly Glover is “looking forward to getting started” after being appointed as the transport spokesperson for the Liberal Democrats.
Mr Glover, who was elected to Parliament last year, said there was a lot that could be done to improve transport infrastructure across the country.
He will use the role to highlight the need for investment in rail, road, walking and cycling in Didcot and Wantage to keep pace with rapid housing and economic development locally.

Before becoming an MP, Mr Glover held a range of senior operational management positions in Network Rail and train operating companies. He led large teams of train drivers, was responsible for major control centres, and worked in partnership with trade unions.
Mr Glover said: “I am proud to have been appointed as transport spokesperson and thank Ed Davey for offering me this position and my predecessor Paul Kohler MP who has been holding the government to account on train fare increases, antisocial behaviour on public transport and much more.

“My pre-politics working life was on the railway, and I have a strong interest in, and passion for, transport as an enabler of a thriving economy, social mobility, and preventing climate change."
Mr Glover added: "Locally, I hope this position will help me with the campaign for a new railway station serving Grove and Wantage, an accessible Cholsey station, a fully electrified railway between Didcot and Oxford, fewer potholes, and walking and cycling routes to schools and along major roads such as the A417.
“At a national level, I will use the position to campaign hard for an affordable and reliable public transport system, walking and cycling, and roads that work for people who depend on them."
