George Osborne arranged US Vice President JD Vance's trip to the Cotswolds.

The VP, who serves under President Donald Trump, has been touring the UK countryside since arriving last week.

Having stopped off to visit Foreign Secretary David Lammy at his Chevening country estate, Mr Vance is now in the Cotswolds.

This has seen him make a visit to Daylesford Organic farm shop, near Kingham, as well as meet The Apprentice star, Thomas Skinner.

The 41-year-old is due to stay here for about a week and was also spotted in Chipping Norton in his motorcade.

According to a new report in the Financial Times, the surprise trip was actually organised by former UK Chancellor George Osborne.

Aided by his old boss, David Cameron, the 54-year-old was contacted for advice on where to go.

“George did it all,” one source informed the Financial Times.

Another source added: “David came up with a few ideas, but George did the rest.”

Mr Vance and Mr Osborne are friends, with the latter revealing the cross-Atlantic bond on his Political Currency podcast last year.

“He’s actually a friend of mine,” said Mr Osborne.

“He was an admirer of the Cameron government and what it had done.”

A no-fly zone has also been put in place over a section of the Cotswolds due to Mr Vance's UK visit, as reported by Jeremy Clarkson.

Taking to his Instagram with an aerial map, the former Top Gear star said: "The JD Vance no-fly zone. We are the pin.

"So on the downside, no drone shots today. On the upside, no annoying light aircraft."
