The highest speed recorded in the Thames Valley area has been revealed.
A Freedom of Information request by this newspaper has revealed one driver was clocked at 160mph in the region.
Thames Valley Police was asked for data on the top 10 highest speeds recorded in Oxfordshire along with a breakdown for each offence of the speed in mph, the time and date recorded, where the offence took place as well as the make and model of each car.
The force was also asked if the driver was arrested as a result, but the data was withheld in the Freedom of Information response.

Between 2017 and 2025, one driver was caught at 160mph and others were caught at 157mph, 153mph, 151mph, 150mph, 149mph, 148mph, 147mph, 146mph, 145mph and 144mph.
Thames Valley Police said the “majority of the high speeds took place on the M4” which runs through Buckinghamshire and Berkshire but not Oxfordshire in the force’s area.
The force said offences are not recorded by county and added: “In order to answer your request accurately, and in full, we would have to manually review all the records on file, including paper records.”
The maximum fixed penalty fine for being caught speeding is £100 and three points added to your driver’s licence.
But if you’re caught at the speeds above, it is more than likely to land you in court and losing your licence.
