A construction company is inviting suppliers and subcontractors to join its expanding supply chain network.

Cumnor-based Beard Construction is looking to build on a record year, which saw its turnover reach £198 million.

The company, which employs 350 people across five offices, is seeking new suppliers to support its portfolio of work in 2025 and beyond.

Beard wants suppliers and subcontractors from trades and specialisms including electrical, mechanical, groundworks, roofing, and brickwork to join its networks in Oxford, as well as in Southampton, Bristol, Guildford, and Swindon.

The company says it is committed to forming strong regional partnerships and collaborating with local businesses.

It adds it actively supports small and medium-sized enterprises and has a strategic target of at least 30 per cent small and medium-sized enterprise spend in its social value framework.

"We’re passionate about working with people and companies who share our values and our drive for prompt and faultless delivery."

Beard was among the first cohort to be awarded the Fair Payment Code Bronze Award, which replaced the Prompt Payment Code in December 2024.

A survey among existing suppliers and subcontractors gave Beard a net promoter score of 80 per cent, compared to a construction industry average of 64 per cent.

Respondents rated Beard highly for health and safety, giving an overall score of 88.33 per cent, and quality standards, with a score of 87.5 per cent.

Beard's site culture also stood out, with an average score of 9.08 out of 10.

Respondents also praised Beard's health and safety standards for their practicality and consistency, noting the company’s balanced approach and well-thought-out site layouts.

Similarly, the site set-up category earned high marks for clean, well-organised worksites with excellent welfare facilities.

Mr Hedges added: "We’re pleased with the positive response to our very first contractors survey, with an average score of over 80 per cent across every category.

"Our supply chain partners have been an integral part of company growth in recent years, and we’re proud to have nurtured long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships with many firms.

"As Beard continues to grow, we are actively looking for trusted partners to join our supply chain.

"Our survey results were positive across the board, but that doesn’t mean we can become complacent.

"This feedback from our network has also identified some areas for improvement and has helped us to develop a detailed action plan."
