Plans to build 64 homes within a huge housing development south of Bicester have been lodged.

The Graven Hill Development is UK’s biggest custom and self-build development, and will contain 2,100 homes along with a primary school, employment space, recreational areas, a local pub or restaurant, a community centre, allotments, nursery and a small number of local shops.

So far 745 homes, as well as a primary school, local centre, play areas and green spaces, have already been built or have planning permission.

Graven Hill Village Development Company (GHVDC) submitted the planning application for Stage 1 Home Zone 4, consisting of 64 homes, to Cherwell District Council.

They would be built on the land south of Anniversary Avenue East between Milne Street and Read Place.

The district council bought the land from the Ministry of Defence in 2014.

The planning documents state: “The proposals are a continuation of development on a site allocated for residential led mixed use development with a previous planning permission for the same.

“They are brought forward in advance of comprehensive proposals for the remainder of the wider site in order to ensure a continuation of housing delivery from the site.

“Accordingly, the proposals will help address the local planning authority’s lack of a five year housing land supply.

The application can be found on Cherwell’s planning portal using the reference number: 25/00882/F.
