Viewers of the popular Channel 4 show, Gogglebox have defended Mary Killen and Giles Wood after calls for the couple to be axed from the show.

The couple have been part of the show since 2015 and have often received mixed opinions from viewers.

Some share that they love Mary and Giles' dry sense of humour and wit while others say they ‘ruin’ Gogglebox.

The most recent episode, on Friday, March 21, has seen some Channel 4 viewers call the couple “utterly unbearable” amid more calls for them to be replaced.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one Gogglebox viewer said: “Hard not to hate Giles and Mary.

“At first they were just kooky and a bit weird, but now it's beyond utterly unbearable whenever they appear on screen.

“Every new season I pray they won't return."

Another added: “Can’t believe how insufferable Giles and Mary are.”

One more said: “I don't know what irritates me more, Mary or Giles.”

When asked about the debate on whether the couple should be removed, Oxford Mail readers were largely against the potential axing.

"No they should not be axed, he comes out with some weird things and she put him in his place," said one viewer.

Another added: "No, they are okay. No. The whole show is a mixture of unusual people, we like some more than others."

Others called ideas to axe them from the show "unfair" while several viewers revealed that they liked the couple.

A third fan said: "I think they're okay, leave them be."
