A new Channel 5 drama starts tonight (February 6), starring Normal People’s India Mullen and Downton Abbey’s Allen Leech.

The Vanishings, set in Ireland in the 1990s, sees a journalist write about her mother’s murder and "the killer resurfaces", reports the Radio Times.

What to expect as The Vanishings airs on Channel 5

Channel 5 viewers don't have long to wait until the new series airs.

Ahead of the first episode, the Radio Times shared a summary of the series: “When reporter Lisa Wallace writes an article on her mother's murder, the killer resurfaces hinting at a kidnapping.

“Lisa and Detective David Burkely investigate, connecting the killer to the disappearance of a woman called Amy Reynolds”.
