Arsenal legend Martin Keown believes transfer target Viktor Gyökeres is ‘too slow’ for the Premier League club.
The 58-year-old was giving a talk at the Oxford Westgate Library in his home city to promote his new book, On The Edge.
Speaking after the event to the Oxford Mail, Keown chatted about his former club’s current situation where he played a total of 449 matches for.
The Gunners find themselves chasing frontrunners Liverpool in the Premier League title race but have recently struggled for goals in recent games.

When pressed about whether Arsenal need to make any January signings, Keown outlined the lack of goals as the key issue affecting Mikel Arteta’s side.
“The players who are there at the moment need to start scoring goals fast don’t they otherwise Mikel will put his hands in his pocket and buy a forward,” he said.
When pressed about whether Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyökeres, who has been linked with the club, would be a good signing, Keown stated that the Swedish striker was too slow for Arsenal.
“[Viktor Gyökeres] is not quick enough and he wouldn’t have been quick enough in my day,” he laughed.

During his time playing for Arsenal, Keown won three Premier League titles, four FA Cups, three FA Community Shields and a European Cup Winners’ Cup.
As well as playing for Brighton & Hove Albion, Aston Villa, Everton, Leicester City, Reading and Wembley, the former defender won Arsenal’s Player of the Season for the 1995/96 season.
