EMERGENCY accommodation has been given to a person whose caravan was seized after the council reported it to be abandoned.

At the request from the council, Thames Valley Police attended Oakfield Industrial Estate in Eynsham to investigate 'abandoned vehicles'.

Officers were asked to assess the vehicles from a police perspective.

On attending, making enquiries and liaising with a roads policing unit, they police then did the following:

  •  One campervan seized due to being SORN for a very long time
  • One campervan seized due to the VEL being expired
  • One trailer seized as believed to be stolen
  • One caravan seized as believed to be stolen

Police state the vehicles had been in the park for some time. However, armed with the new information all four vehicles were able to be seized.

The occupant of one of the caravans was given full support through the process and emergency accommodation was being arranged for them.

They were also provided details for local support if needed however the occupant did have somewhere else to go and stay.

Writing about the seizures on Facebook, Thames Valley Police for West Oxfordshire wrote: "Good result for the local businesses who were very unhappy over the vehicles and occupant of the caravan causing numerous issues for quite some time.

"Stay safe everyone."
