Fresh plans have been lodged to convert a vacant swimming pool into an apartment for holiday letting.

Applicant Liz Wenman, of the Kingfisher Barn company, has applied to South Oxfordshire District Council for permission to make the transformation on the road running east to Rye Farm from the southern end of Abingdon Bridge in Culham.

The application would entail changing the pool building into a one-bedroom apartment.

A planning paper says: "The swimming pool has fallen into disrepair and has not been used for five years.

"It is proposed to provide a new insulated floor, improve the insulation to the external walls and provide new windows and doors.

"The finish to the external walls comprises a mixture of natural stone, render and weatherboard and is to be retained.

"The plain clay tiles to the roof will also be retained. The building is within flood zone three but is not being extended in anyway and will not increase the flood risk to people and property on the site and in the surrounding area.

"There will be a level access into the building with a wheelchair-friendly door."

A target decision date of October 17 has been listed for the application and the consultation period ends September 14.

County Archaeological Services has noted the site is in an area of archaeological interests but that "the proposals would not appear to result in any new invasive below ground impacts".
