An Oxford man’s car has been smashed after an Argos van driver cut across him on the A34.

Cian Fulham was driving along the A34 southbound close to Abingdon on Tuesday, August 27 when he noticed the vehicle close to his bumper.

An Argos delivery van driver was pursuing the Oxford motorist and was just centimetres away from his red Ford.

As the Argos driver sped past Mr Fulham and overtook, the van took off the front end of the car leaving the vehicle potentially written off.

“The van driver followed me down the A34 slip road towards Abingdon and was tailgating me pretty much all the way down and at some points was literally centimetres behind," Mr Fulham said.

“He was trying to overtake me all down the A34 and I was doing 66/67 mph and he finally got a chance to overtake me and floored it, going at excessive speed.

“There was absolutely no effort made to merge correctly and instead intentionally wiped me out.

“He went to drive off and I sped up and moved in front of him and put my hazards on to signal him to pull over.

“As he pulled over he then hit the back of the car too so now the back end is cracked too.”

The 27-year-old was then left at the side of the road for more than two hours after Thames Valley Police attended the incident.

"They just got us off the road and left,” said Mr Fulham.

“I was left there for two and a half hours on the side of the A34 waiting to be recovered.”

The incident had a big impact on Mr Fulham's health and the Oxford resident had to be signed off from work because of it.

“I went to A&E after because I was in a state of shock and I woke up feeling dizzy and sick which then meant I was signed off work,” he said.

“I am losing earnings because I drive and A&E said that I can’t drive for at least 24 hours.

“Police declared the vehicle undrivable so it is likely that it is going to be written off.”

Mr Fulham has reported the incident to Argos but is yet to get a response addressing the incident besides a brief apology.

“I haven’t heard anything substantial back from Argos, just a standard “we’re really sorry” but I don’t expect them to do much about it," he continued.

“A guy like that should not be driving and there is no reason for what he did.”

The Oxford Mail approached Argos for comment and a spokesperson said: “We are investigating this incident.”
