Didcot Railway Centre offered a free day out to its members last week.

On Thursday, August 15, Day Out & Dinner and Didcot Railway Centre members enjoyed a day out, sponsored by SOHA Housing, Doris Field Charitable Trust and Wallingford and Didcot District Rotary Club, with food supplied by SOFEA and cooked by the centre's catering department.

Entertainment included a mermaid princess and superhero, face painting and the Didcot Dukes Ukulele Band.

The mayor of Didcot, Andrew Jones, who attended with his grandchildren, said: "My granddaughter told me it was an exciting day, especially because she had been too young to remember what it was like when she visited before."

Sustainable Didcot showed families how to do crafts using old yoghurt pots, and there was also a train running.
