A charity event which sees people spend a night sleeping rough has made a renewed call for registrations.

Oxfordshire Homeless Movement and CEO Sleepout, a national charity, have teamed up to stage the CEO Sleepout event in University Parks, Oxford.

The objective is to unite academic, charity, and business leaders on October 10 to provide participants with an understanding of what homelessness is like and raise awareness and funds.

CEO Sleepout recognises this single-night experience, which will begin at 7.30pm and run until 6am the following morning, can only provide a fleeting view into the reality of homelessness.

So far, 35 people have signed up to take part in the event, but organisers are aiming to get at least 60 people involved.

Project director, Yvonne Pinner, said: "Last year we had 47 people take part and they collectively raised a whopping £76,000 – every penny of this went to frontline projects across Oxfordshire and changed lives.

"This year, we would love to get over 60 kind-hearted business people to join us and help us raise our target of £100,000.

"This money will provide vital support to people experiencing homelessness across the county, I really can’t begin to describe the impact it will have.

"If you are a local business and aren’t sure about taking part, just email yvonne@ohmteam.org and give me the chance to persuade you."
