More than 100 school students took part in an event focusing on ways to improve their wellbeing earlier this week.
Abingdon School staged the event, comprising wellness workshops and presentations from staff and students, on Thursday, June 20.
The event, called ‘SupportED’, was backed by charities One Eighty and The Abingdon Bridge and featured students from John Mason School, Abingdon School, Larkmead School, Radley College, Fitzharrys School and St Helen and St Katharine, all of which are in Abingdon.
It was part of the OX14 Learning Partnership, which sees teachers from the six schools work together to deliver a programme of events.
The day included activities such as yoga and meditation sessions, a craft workshop, and discussions about mental health and loneliness.
Additionally, a group of sixth form students shared their personal experiences during a Q&A session.
One student said: "It’s been great to meet new people today, hear from others about how to support wellbeing and learn some new skills.
"My friends and I are going to be able to share what we’ve learned today with other pupils when we get back to school and we are all really hoping it will help make a difference."
Rob Southwell-Sander, director of partnerships at Abingdon School, added: "With alarming rates of anxiety amongst our young people, SupportEd has enabled us all to collaborate proactively on the best ways to manage wellbeing across our partnership of schools while reframing the conversation positively."
