The 58-year-old allegedly ‘unlawfully and maliciously’ inflicted grievous bodily harm on a woman in Thame on December 11, 2020.
Freeman’s case has been adjourned as it is an indictable only charge meaning it can only be dealt with in the higher court.
He is now next due in Oxford Crown Court on July 11 for a plea and trial preparation hearing.
