The price of a ticket on the Oxford Tube to London and some local bus fares in West Oxfordshire are set to rise.

Stagecoach West said single and return fares on local services will remain unchanged, however, other tickets that are bought on the bus will increase slightly from Sunday, June 23.

Passengers are recommended to check online for new prices before they travel.  

Stagecoach said it "has taken the difficult decision to raise some of its ticket prices" due to rising running and operational costs across the industry.

It said it has "has worked hard to keep ticket prices affordable for customers, with lots of ticket prices frozen in price". 

Stagecoach West continues to participate in the national fare cap scheme, meaning a single journey will never cost more than £2. 

The Flexi5 ticket price has been frozen and most tickets bought online or via the app remaining the same price as before. 

Day and 7-Day tickets are still cheaper when bought on the Stagecoach app.

Group Day tickets will represent even better value for money as the party number increases to five people travelling together, rather than four. 

However, the app prices for Evening Rider tickets and the West Gold 7 Day adult ticket have increased.

The 28-Day MegaRider tickets will no longer be available from June 23.

If you travel regularly you can save more by signing up to the MegaRider Xtra ticket available for most zones.

13 week tickets for under 19s will no longer be available to purchase from the June 23.

Following customer feedback, Stagecoach West has introduced Term Tickets for under 19s instead.

StudentRider Academic Year tickets and new Term Tickets go on sale from August 1. 

Early Bird reduced ticket prices will be available on the new Academic Year tickets until  August 31 offering significant savings.

Oxford Tube tickets will also go up from June 23.

An adult single will cost £15.50 (£14.50 via app); a senior/young Person £14.50 (£13.50 via app) and child £6.50 (£6 via app).  

Chris Hanson, managing director at Stagecoach West, said: “Following an extensive review of running and operational costs we are delighted to be in the position to freeze the majority of our fares once again, with only a small number of increases from June 23. 

“We work hard to keep costs as low as possible across our network, to ensure bus travel remains great value for money and the best, sustainable option to travel for our customers.”
