A youth football club has been sponsored, allowing them to buy a new football kit.

The sponsorship means the under-8 boys' team, from Didcot, have been able to get a new away strip.

The Harwell and Hendred Youth Football Club team, known as the U8 Blacks, recently wore the new yellow and black kit funded by Vistry Thames Valley, which is building at the Didcot Grove location in the town.

The jersey, bought through a £500 grant, helped the team start their play-off campaign in the right way with a 2-1 victory over St Edmunds.

Scott Drewett, manager of the U8 Blacks, said: "We are incredibly grateful for the sponsorship.

"The boys are loving the new away strip.

“It’s really important for us to receive sponsorship to support the team’s sports budget, thereby allowing us to support our talented footballers, which may not have been possible without the boost from Vistry.”

Vistry Thames Valley's regional sales director, Amber Bowley, said: "Harwell and Hendred Youth Football Club plays an important role in the local community, offering valuable opportunities for children to learn and play football at every age and ability.

"We’re proud to support their fantastic work."

The club, in Boundary Park on Greenwood Way, includes 22 separate teams, ranging from under-8s to an adult women's team.
