A trader at a market in Oxford has been crowned a champion at a prestigious food awards.

Burgervore at Gloucester Green Market was named the South East Judges Champion at the British Street Food Awards.

Additionally, they secured second place in the People's Vote, marking a significant achievement for the wife-and-husband duo, Martha and Will Batting.

Mr Batting said: "We were over the moon to be named the South East Judges' Champion at the British Street Food Awards and second in the People's Vote.

"We were fortunate enough to sample a lot of the other competitors' food over the weekend and knew it would be tough.

"There were so many great traders from across London and the South East.

"To be named the champion is just the best feeling, and we now look forward to competing in Hackney, London at the UK grand final from September 13 to 15."

In addition to Burgevore's triumph at the British Street Food Awards, the trader will also be competing at the National Burger Awards Champion of Champions in September.

Having been a previous winner and finalist twice in previous years, the couple are excited to showcase their culinary talents once again on a national stage.

Bosses at Gloucester Green Market said they are immensely proud of Burgervore's achievements and wishes them the best of luck in their upcoming competitions.
