A Witney man who was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer is set to take on a unique marathon for charity.

Steve Rance, who was diagnosed with Neuroendocrine Cancer in 2021, has decided to walk 26.2-miles around his hometown of Witney.

He will push a shopping trolley carrying 'Cedric,' a mannequin complete with flying goggles and a moustache, on June 8.

He is raising funds for Neuroendocrine Cancer UK and Cancer Research UK, and has already amassed £3,183.72 of his £5,000 goal.

Upon diagnosis three years ago, Mr Rance was given eight months to live, requiring major surgery to survive.

He said: "Three years later and after two major abdominal operations, waving goodbye to several organs, my current diagnosis is stable."

Speaking about his fundraiser, he added: "The thought of doing an event to give something back has always been part of my drive to recovery."

He wanted his fundraising challenge to be "something different, wacky and that has never been done before".

Despite the surgery, Mr Rance said "the cancer is still with me and always will be".

In the early stages of his diagnosis, Mr Rance could only walk 50 meters, but said he is now "ready" due to the support he has received from his friends, family and the charities who he is raising money for.
