These young people interested in looking after those in need received official recognition of their newly-learned skills.
The group are seen being handed first aid certificates after taking part in a four-day course run by the Vale of White Horse Youth Programme at the Churchill Hospital in Oxford in 1988.
The aim was to train youngsters in the skills of looking after the young and elderly, hoping it would lead them into full-time careers in the caring sector.

The hospital was opened as the Churchill Hospital by the Duchess of Kent on January, 27, 1942. On April 1,1993, the John Radcliffe Hospital and the Churchill Hospital were united, and on 1 April 1994 the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals NHS Trust was formed.
