Visitors to Oxford’s Westgate Centre later this month will have the chance to learn about the healthcare research taking place in the city.

The city's two biomedical research centres, collaborations between the University of Oxford and Oxford’s two NHS trusts, are set to host the open day on May 30 to showcase the range of research they are supporting.

The two research centres are the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Oxford Biomedical Research Centre and the NIHR Oxford Health Biomedical Research Centre.

The two centre's are supporting research in fields spanning from heart disease, dementia, diabetes and cancer to depression, all with the ultimate aim of benefitting NHS patients.

More than 40 interactive stands will be available for the public to view and engage with, providing insights into the latest advancements.

There will also be guidance on how people can play a role in shaping the future of medicine, through participation in research projects.

The open day will start at 10am in Leiden Square, located on the lower ground floor of the centre, between the escalators and John Lewis.
