Train services have been "severely" delayed this morning (May 19) after engineering works did not finish on time.

Work between Bicester North and Warwick Parkway was not completed on schedule causing disruption between the lines.

Train services running through the stations "may be cancelled or severely delayed", Chiltern Railway said in a statement just before 9am.

The train operator apologised for the disruption.

A statement said: "We sincerely apologise if this has impacted your journey."

It added that if you have been delayed by 15 minutes or more, then "you are likely to be entitled to compensation".

Chiltern Railway subsequently confirmed at around 9.30am that all lines had reopened.

A spokesperson said: "Following engineering works not being finished on time between Bicester North and Warwick Parkway all lines have now reopened.

"This means that Chiltern Railways tickets will no longer be accepted by Avanti West Coast for use on their services."
