Prizes of up to £500 are on offer at an art competition being held in Wallingford.

Howbery Business Park has launched the 'Art in the Park' competition, inviting the community to get creative around the theme 'Water in our world', to mark three decades in business.

Howbery’s owner, HR Wallingford, aims to inspire sustainable living and working with water.

The company wants to encourage people to think about the role and importance of water in their lives.

A trip to Howbery Park, which is home to a manor house, riverbank, tree-lined avenues, rose beds among former stable buildings, and a solar park, is suggested for inspiration.

The over 18s category is offering a £500 first prize, with two runners-up set to receive £250 each.

The two junior categories, ages four to 11 and 12-18, have a £50 prize each for the winners and £250 for their chosen school or youth group to buy art supplies.

Artists under 18 are instructed to create their artwork on a postcard measuring 148mm x 105mm, which they can post or hand in.

Over 18s are allowed to submit artwork up to A3 size and initially must present it online as a photo.

If shortlisted, they will be invited to bring in their artwork, which will be displayed at an exhibition in the park from September 9-13.

The deadline for entries is July 31 with winners being announced on September 9.
