POLICE have named a suspect who has been charged with a series of violent offences.

It comes after officers required the use of a taser to arrest a man in Widnes earlier this week.

At 8.32pm on Tuesday, April 16, police attended an address in Hough Green following reports of an assault.

While arresting the occupant, officers were threatened with weapons and a struggle ensued.

The man was tasered and taken into custody, after being checked over at hospital.

A 36-year-old man from Widnes has since been charged with a number of offences.

Andrew Anders, of Eversley in Hough Green, was subsequently charged with battery, attempted grievous bodily harm and two counts of assaulting an emergency worker.

He was also charged with three counts of threatening with a bladed article in a private place.

Anders is due to make a first appearance in relation to the charges before Warrington Magistrates Court today, Friday.
