Oxford Hockey Club's under 16 girl's team have become national champions after a late goal saw them secure a 4-3 win in a thrilling final.
The team faced tough competition from Timperley Hockey Club at the Nottingham Hockey Centre.
Their journey to the final was marked with impressive victories over previous finalists Stourport and Wimbledon.
The team had also showed strong form in the earlier stages of the competition as they overcame Eastcote, Bedford, Towcester, and Old Cranleighans.
Oxford went ahead early on when Florence Hulcup steered her side in the lead with a well-executed penalty corner shot just five minutes in.
On the 15-minute mark, Matilda Amor doubled Oxford's lead with a stunning breakaway goal.
Shortly after Oxford’s second goal Timperley began to work their way back into the game.
They managed to half the deficit mid-way through the first half, making the score 2-1 at half time.
With a change of formation, Timperley started the second half well, securing an equaliser on 45 minutes.
Undeterred, Oxford returned fire to make the score 3-2, courtesy of a timely goal from Beatrice Subeska-Renato.
As the game reached its final stages, Timperley kept pushing and managed to find an equalizer.
But Oxford's Molly Deakin rose to the occasion, earning a crucial penalty corner right after the restart, paving the way for Hattie Gibson's dramatic late goal to put Oxford back ahead.
The goal was the last action as the umpire's whistle confirmed Oxford were the new champions.
