A 17-year-old A Level student has secured a place to study at Oxford University despite facing a number of challenges.
Maddie Price, from Finmere, had to focus on her studies while she came to terms with her mother's breast cancer diagnosis.
She also does not see her father very often after her parents split in 2016.
She spent four years in Belgium between the ages of four and nine, attending a French-speaking school, which impacted her English.
She sat her GCSE's while her mother, who is now clear of cancer, was receiving chemotherapy, which she said made her "very determined".
She has been offered a place to study French and Beginners Italian at Oxford University this September.
She has also received offers from UCL, Warwick, Durham, and Bath.
She is predicted to achieve grades A*A*A in French, Psychology, and Religious Studies at Magdalen College School in Brackley, Northants and was supported throughout her university application process by Zero Gravity, a free social mobility tech platform.
Upon receiving her offer, she was filled with "excitement and shock".
Her mother, Carla Price, said: "I was absolutely ecstatic when she got her offer and I’m so happy she has been given this amazing opportunity which she so deserves."
She hopes her time at Oxford will help her "let go of the feeling" of "being a perfectionist" and teach her to "just enjoy the process of learning".
